Marlene was born Aug. 9, 1934, in Litchfield, the daughter of Roy and Ella (Schlender) Lindell. She grew up and graduated from the Litchfield High School in 1952.
After high school, Marlene worked as a telephone operator, and later worked for the city of Litchfield.
Marlene was united in marriage to Arnold Peterson in 1955. They made their home on a farm south of Dassel for 51 years.
Marlene was employed by the Hutchinson School District for over 20 years, working in the accounting department at the central office and also at Park Elementary as a library assistant.
She enjoyed the times that she spent with her family and friends, and spent many hours on the ice or in a boat casting a line to catch that elusive fish. She loved nature, and spent many hours watching and listening to the birds that congregated around her house.
Marlene truly enjoyed living in the country and experiencing the natural landscape and wildlife that surrounded her. She also enjoyed time spent at their cabin on Lake Washington.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold, of Dassel; sons, Paul (Nancy) Peterson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Daniel Peterson of Silverthorne, Colo.; grandchildren Jenny, Scott, Zhenia, and Aliona Peterson; brothers Jerry (Beverly) Lindell of Litchfield, and Darold “Swede” (Joan) Lindell of Dunnellon, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ella Lindell; and one brother, David Lindell.
