Bernard Joseph Provencher
Bernard Joseph Provencher, age 65, of Hutchinson, died Friday, May 25, 2007 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
He was born Nov. 25, 1941 in Collinwood Township, Meeker County, the son of Andrew and Mary (McCormick) Provencher. Bernard was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
Bernard received his elementary education at School District 49, and attended St. Anastasia Catholic School for his eighth grade education. He was a graduate of the Dassel High School class of 1959.
Bernard was united in marriage to Rozanne Mattson Oct. 15, 1960 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with three children.
Bernard and Rozanne moved to a farm in Hutchinson Township, McLeod County, in 1965. They shared 46 years of marriage.
Bernard was employed at George Madsen Construction in Minneapolis from 1959 to 1964. In addition to farming, he was employed at 3M in Hutchinson from 1964 to 1981, and at Stearnswood in Hutchinson from 1981 to 2004, when he retired.
He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
Bernard enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and yard work, and horses. He also enjoyed visiting with the patrons of Joe’s Shop, located on the farm in Hutchinson Township. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary Provencher; brothers Howard Provencher, and James Provencher; sister-in-law Delores Provencher; and niece Debra Bollman.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Rozanne Provencher of Hutchinson; daughters Pamela Dahlberg and husband Gary, and Heidi Froemming and husband Keith, and son, Joe Provencher and wife Dana, all of Hutchinson; sisters Jane Bollman and husband Donald of Hutchinson, and Patricia Vorlicek and husband Clarence of Cokato; sister-in-law Isla Perrill and husband Norm of Hutchinson; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was Wednesday, May 30 at 11 am. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson with Father Bill Sprigler and Pastor Paulus Pilgrim officiating. Music was provided by organist Bonnie Westmiller and song leader Bobbi Ludewig. Song selections included “Borning Cry,” “Beautiful Savior,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were David Bollman, Doug Bollman, Mark Dallmann, Jim Lux, Dean Carlson, Dale Grochow, Mitch Elke, and Steve Terhaar.
Arrangements were by the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson.
