John Grant Quarnstrom
John Grant Quarnstrom, age 78, of Dassel, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at his home.
He was born Feb. 24, 1928 at the family farm in Collinwood Township, Meeker County, the son of John H. and Ella Esther (Hayes) Quarnstrom. John grew up in Collinwood Township and graduated from the Dassel High School in 1946.
After graduating from high school, John was inducted into the US Army. He served his country as a mechanic during the Korean War.
Grant loved to farm and watch his crops grow. He was a wonderful mechanic, who could make anything run.
He could have a conversation with anyone, and always had something to talk about with family and friends. He will deeply be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him.
Grant is survived by his sisters, Mary (Edwin) Erickson of Aurora, Colo., Karin (Harold) Haag of Eden Valley, and Pat (Larry) Reisdorph of Richfield; 12 nieces and nephews; 24 great nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Ted Oatman.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel with the Rev. William Moeller officiating. Special music was, “How Great Thou Art,” and “Amazing Grace,” sung by Sheldon Hedin, with organist Florine Osness. Interment was at the Pioneer Cemetery, in Collinwood Township.
Visitation took place Tuesday evening, Jan. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, and continued one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
The casket bearers were Michael Oatman, Dale Reisdorph, Scott Haag, Paul Haag, David Erickson, Kenneth Erickson, Paul LaVoie, and Bill Fodstad.
Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
