Dennis J. Rasset obituary, 4/8/07


Dennis J. Rasset, age 57, of Maple Lake, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 from injuries sustained March 17, 2007.
He was born Aug. 30, 1949 in Buffalo, to Jay and Marie Rasset.
Dennis owned Rasset Concrete & Masonry since 1977, and was proud to have worked side-by-side with his sons, Chris and Shane. In addition, all of his brothers and most of his brothers-in-law worked for Dennis at one time or another over the years.
In addition to the concrete and masonry business, Dennis, with his wife, Jo Ann, owned En La Silla Peruvian Horses in Maple Lake, where they raised Peruvian horses. Their sons, grandson, and daughter-in-law often joined them for trail riding and horse camping excursions.
Dennis was an adventurer, enjoying home building, motorcycling, traveling, horses, skiing, camping, and many other adventures. He could fix anything broken, build anything he set his mind to, enjoy all that life offered, and accepted his many health setbacks.
Dennis loved his family above all else, and will be remembered as a good husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, and uncle, and as a good man. He was known by many and loved by all.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 37 years, and best friend, Jo Ann of Maple Lake; his sons, Christopher, and grandson, Reed of Maple Lake, and Shane (Gina) of Becker; parents, Jay and Marie Rasset of Montrose; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike (Jan), Stephan (Patricia), John (Melanie), Joe (Kathy), and Pat (Rita); sisters and brothers-in-law Diana (Jim) Hausladen and Teresa Lukach; brothers-in-law Gene Van Nurden, Jon (Nancy) Van Nurden, and Dan (Sebrina) Van Nurden; sister-in-law Laurie Van Nurden; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Lee and Doris Van Nurden; and brothers-in-law Terry Van Nurden and Paul Lukach.
Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake with Fr. Mark Huberty officiating. St. Timothy’s Resurrection Choir provided music for the service. Interment was in East Maple Lake Cemetery.
Friends called Thursday, April 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake, with parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continued Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Michael, Stephan, John, Joseph, and Patrick Rasset, and James Hausladen Sr.
Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake handled the arrangements.
