Larry R. Salmela obituary, 4/29/07


Larry R. Salmela, age 69, of Port Lucie, Fla., formerly of Cokato, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Cokato, the son of Rudy and Elnora Salmela, and baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran church in Cokato.
Larry graduated from Cokato High School. In 1955, he graduated from Depauw University, Greencastle, Ind.
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Larry was employed by Western Electric Co. in Littleton, Co. until retirement, at which time he moved to Florida.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Rudy; and grandparents Hattie and Ernest Hintz, and Mary and Caleb Salmela.
Larry is survived by his wife, Liz; daughters Lisa (Jose) Perez and Debbie (Greg) Martin; three granddaughters, Payton and Adelea Perez, and Caitlin Martin; one grandson, Logan Martin; his mother, Elnora Salmela; a sister, Marlene (Jim) Wondra; nephew Trevor (Athene) Wondra; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will take place in West Palm Beach, Fla. Saturday, June 16.
