Marjorie E. Stender obituary, 9/1/07


Marjorie E. Stender, age 84 of Watertown, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 at the Elim Home of Watertown. The funeral Service took place Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, with Rev. Robert Ericson officiating. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Marjorie was born May 9, 1923 in New Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Alma (Schultz) Lindenberg. She was united in marriage June 28, 1941 to LeRoy A. Stender, at her home, by Rev. Theodore Rolf.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, sons Ricky and Lyndel (“Butch”) Stender, parents William and Alma Lindenberg; daughter-in-law Penny Stender; and son-in-law Van Christopherson.
Margie enjoyed fishing, gambling, going to Twins games and attending family gatherings. She was very proud of raising her eight children. Margie was a long-time homemaker, helping her husband LeRoy with the farm work.
She lived in Watertown and Delano during her life. Margie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Delano.
Marjorie is survived by her loving family, children and spouses: Connie and Greg Gatz of Lester Prairie, Sherrie and Ron Leuthner of Branson, Mo., Larry and Phyllis Stender of Waconia, Linda and Clyde Stieve of Delano, Pat and Allen Schug of Watertown, Lu Ann Christopherson and fiancé Ron Goede of Norwood Young America.
Grandchildren, Renee and Steve Johnson, Brian and Amy Gatz, Chris and Michelle Leuthner, Carrie and Craig Stowell, Lisa and Jeff Pennetta, Staci and Josh Anderson, Kim and David Stender-Vann, Lyndel and Cathleen Stender, Jeff and April Stender, Mark and Jody Stender, Chad and Tricia Stender, Jamie and Mackenzie Stender, Ann and David Lowe, Becky and Richard Jobe, Dawn and Dan Gjersten, Tim and Dana Schug, Terry Schug, Tammy Schug and special friend Chauncy Williams, Dan and Jenny Christopherson, Jodi and Andy Werner, Charlie and Heather Christopherson, Jennifer and Matt Boyum; 44 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by sister Lucille Stender of Waconia; brothers Edward Lindenberg of Delano, Gilbert Lindenberg of Watertown; sisters-in-law Gertrude Stender of Norwood Young America, Lillian Stender of Clarissa; brother-in-law Bill Zellmann of Moose Lake; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Casket bearers were her grandchildren. Honorary casket bearers were her great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
