Linda A. Stender Obituary – 11/05/07


Linda A. Stender, age 57, of Norwood Young America, died Monday Nov. 5, 2007 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

She was born Nov. 18, 1949 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Erwin C. and Irene M. (Roepke) Stender. Linda was baptized Dec. 11, 1949 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Hector, Minn. by the Rev. Arthur W. Koehler; and confirmed April 7, 1963 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America by the Rev. Rudolph Reith.

Linda loved helping people any way she could, and usually put other people before herself; especially when it came to Brady and Mason. She also loved to bake and share her treats; wedding cakes were her specialty. She cared for her mother for many years, and kept mom busy with scrap material for sewing.

Linda worked at various places thoughout her lifetime including the “Animal Fair,” Waconia Good Samaritan Society, Community Center Restaurant, and Carver-Scott County CO-OP School, where she managed challenged individuals, touching the lives of troubled youths.

Linda is survived by her loving family: brother and sister-in-law Leon and Tammy Stender of Norwood Young America,; nephews Brady Stender and Mason Stender; special cousins Jill Myers and Terri Schroepfer; uncle and aunts Clarence and Valeria Rolf of Norwood Young America, Arlene Roepke of New Germany, Viola Stender of New Germany; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Irene Stender; and many other loved ones.

Memorial service took place Friday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America with the Rev. David Winter officiating. Interment was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Norwood Young America.

Visitation preceded the memorial service at the church, beginning at noon.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
