Charles R. “Carl” Thaemert
Charles R. “Carl” Thaemert, age 99, of Cologne, died Tuesday Jan. 16, 2007 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.
He was born Aug. 31, 1907 in Dahlgren Twp., the son of Frank and Valeria (Bipes) Thaemert. Carl was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist church in Cologne.
He married Mayme A. Poppler Sept. 20, 1931 at the Thaemert home in Carver.
Carl was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and great-great-grandpa, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor, who loved all of his family dearly. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, compassion, and loving nature.
He was a true farmer, willing to help those who needed help, and a kind and generous man.
Carl is survived by is loving family: daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Roy Bessel of Belle Plaine, and Jayne and Tom Jennings of Bloomington; daughters-in-law Linda Thaemert of Cologne, and Vicky Thaemert of Tracy; and grandchildren Leland and Mary Otto, Dennis and Karen Otto, DuWayne Otto, Janet and Joe Goor, Kevin Otto and Dawn Brown, Pamela and Mark Signorelli, Sheila and Joel Chriss, Melanie and David Taylor, Patricia and Gary Judson, Anne Smith, Douglas Jennings, Dawn and Mark Woolard, Howard Weber, Timothy and Jackie Thaemert, Donna Jean Steinke, Jennifer Towne, Tracy Thaemert, Wyatt Thaemert, Daniel Thaemert, Jason Thaemert and fiancée Kimberly Legg, and Stephanie Thaemert.
He is further survived by great-grandchildren Teresa, Brian and Jodi, Matthew, Rebecca, Benjamin, Patrick, Christopher, Jillian, Nicholas, Alyssa, John Michael, Maria, Julia, Evan, Kate, Grace, Jazmin, Destiny, Crystal, Jesse, Terry Jo, Jake, Samantha, Nicholas, Justin, Bryce, Gregory, Austin, and Parker; great-great-grandchildren Lucas, Isiah, William, Warren and Josie; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Eleanor Thaemert of Shakopee, Beatrice Thaemert of Carver, Lois Lemke of Waconia, Ervin and Julia Poppler of Waconia, Catherine Kohman of Eden Prairie, and Lester Otto of Belle Plaine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Mayme; sons Howard and Kenneth Thaemert; son-in-law Melvin Otto; parents Frank and Valeria Thaemert; brothers Henry, Arthur, Harvey, August, Edward, Lawrence and Theodore “Ted” Thaemert; and sisters Elizabeth Kettner, Anna (Dorothy) Wildung, Wilhelmina (Buetow) Goetze, Bertha Noll and Mildred Lemke.
Funeral services were Saturday Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at Zoar United Church of Christ in Chaska, with the Rev. Richard Mark officiating. Interment was at Zoar United Church of Christ Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Carl’s grandchildren, Melanie Taylor, Kevin Otto, Daniel Thaemert, Jason Thaemert, Timothy Thaemert, Douglas Jennings, and Tracy Thaemert.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
