Glen Jacob Tyni
Glen Jacob Tyni, age 78, of Van Nuys, Calif., died Wednesday, March 21, 2007.
He was born in Minneapolis March 9, 1929.
After serving in the US Navy during the Korean War, Glen settled in Los Angeles, Calif., after marrying a fellow Minnesotan, Shirley Ann Nelson of Cokato.
They settled in Van Nuys, Calif., where Glen worked at the Daily News for 30 years, from 1961 to 1991.
While raising their four children, they would return to Minnesota during the summers for family vacations to golf, fish, enjoy the lakes, play on the family farms, and learn strong Midwestern values.
Upon retirement, Glen and Shirley returned to French Lake during the summer to enjoy family and as Glen described it, “heaven on earth.”
Glen is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley; daughter Linda (Mark) Miller; son Todd (Christina); daughter Laura (Pete) Voets; son Wayne (Katri); six granddaughters, Lindsay, Nicole, Lauren, Molly, Megan and Emma; and four grandsons, Matt, Brett, Scott and Kyle.
Glen’s family will remember him for his integrity, honesty, and unconditional love and support.
Services were Friday, March 30, at The Church at Rocky Peak in Chatsworth, Calif., followed by a gravesite service at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery.
