Milo Edward Vail
Milo Edward Vail, age 80, of Rockford, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Memorial services will take place today, May 7, at the St. Edward the Confessor Church in Wayzata at 10 a.m. Gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. in the church, prior to services. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford with military honors provided by the Buffalo American Legion Post.
Milo was born Oct. 25, 1926 to Marion “Otis” and Ida (Rux) Vail in Rockford.
He served in the Army in World War II. Milo was a loyal mason, shriner, and American Legion member.
Elected mayor of Rockford at the age of 21, Milo also served as fire chief for a period of years with the Rockford Volunteer Fire Department. He was a charter member of the Rockford Lions Club, as well as the Rockford American Legion Post.
Milo is survived by his loving wife, Jo; children, Chris Merritt, Ray and Bonnie Vail, Pam Conley, Bruce Vail, Linda Vail and Mark Riedel, Milo J. Vail, and Brendan Vail (dec.); eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and sister Faye and Charles Christianson.
Arrangements are by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
