Ellsworth J. “Al” Waschek Obituary – 12/05/07


Ellsworth J. “Al” Waschek, age 71, of Hollywood Township, Mayer, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at his home.

Al grew up on a farm in Maple Grove.

He was united in marriage to Joanne L. Olson April 15, 1967, at St. Austin’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis by Father Thomas Huntstinger.

Al and Joanne moved to Watertown, where he was a proud member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

He was also a member of several organizations including Teamsters Local 120, Scott Carver Threshers Association, JI Case Heritage Foundation, and the Maple Grove Historical Preservation Society.

Al was passionate about fishing – he either went fishing or talked about fishing every day. He also enjoyed traveling, including family camping trips around the country, tours in Europe, and annual excursions to Branson, Mo. and Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Blanche Waschek.

Al is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Mary Waschek of Apple Valley; grandchildren Jacob, Jonathan, and Matthew Waschek; brother and sister-in-law Dwaine and Sandy Waschek of St. Cloud; father-in-law and mother-in-law Leonard and Lorraine Olson of New Hope; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Janice Carr of California, and Gary and Julie Olson of Coon Rapids; and nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with the Rev. Frank Wampach as celebrant of the Mass. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Leo Waschek, Jon Horkey, Jerry Kinney, David Ruud, Butch Bauer, and Jim Stender.

Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
