Lowell J. Wolter obituary, 9/6/07


Lowell J. Wolter, age 66 of Cologne, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2007 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Services took place Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bongards, with Rev. Richard Mark officiating. Interment was at St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery.  
Lowell was born January 16, 1941 in Waconia, the son of Erwin C. and Lorna I. (Hoernemann) Wolter. Lowell was baptized February 9, 1941 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bongards by Rev. Edward H. Oppermann, and confirmed June 6, 1954 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bongards, by Rev. P.H. Franzmeier. He married JoAnn K. Bachmann August 19, 1961, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bongards, by Rev. Marion Zenke.
Lowell was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He and JoAnn celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago.  Lowell loved spending time with his kids and grandkids at their lake home.  He worked 31 years at Fluoroware, Inc. in Chaska.  He also owned his own welding business at his home in Cologne.  Lowell was lucky enough to enjoy early retirement, which allowed him time to do the things he loved, like golfing, fishing and hunting.
Lowell was very active in the Cologne Lions Club and at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bongards.  
He and JoAnn enjoyed traveling especially to Las Vegas, and Arizona. He has been very active in the St. John’s church his entire life.  He also spent 33 years with the Cologne Lions Club, which gave him great pride.  
Lowell was a generous, caring person who enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels to the elderly, donating blood to the Red Cross and even now, donating his eyes to give someone else the gift of sight.  A more thoughtful or considerate person would be hard to come by.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents Erwin “Clifton” and Lorna Wolter; sisters Bonita Wolter, and Blanche Johnson; mother-in-law Lorna Bachmann; great nephew Everett Stahlke.
He is survived by his loving family, wife JoAnn; children and spouses Kurt and Jan Wolter of Ham Lake, Kim and Alan Tellers of Norwood Young America, and Kelly and David Farrell of Waconia; grandchildren Bailey and Jordan Farrell, Sarah Wolter, Mikayla and Brandon Tellers; brothers and sisters-in-law David and Carol Wolter of Albert Lea, and Eugene and Carol Wolter of Waconia; sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara and Ron Bohlman of Victoria, and Lorna Ida Wolter of Owatonna; brother-in-law Leroy Johnson of Duluth; father-in-law Henry Bachmann of Norwood Young America; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Larry and Jeannette Bachmann of Norwood Young America and Ronald and Cheryl Bachmann of Norwood Young America; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Casket Bearers were Dallas Schneider, Roger Storms, Bob Schepers, Stan Guettler, Jim Effertz and Dennis Feltmann.Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
