Adalyn Marie Wright
Adalyn Marie Wright, age 99, of Cokato, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Cokato Manor.
She was born May 11, 1908 in Helena, Mont. to Edward and Ida (Johnson) Eckstrom. Shortly after she was born, her family moved from Montana to Cokato.
Adalyn loved to play basketball at Cokato High School, and she performed in the school plays.
She was married to Ernest Wright in May of 1928. They had three children.
Working as a nurses aide in Litchfield and Dassel nursing homes prepared Adalyn for her task of being activity director at Cokato Manor for many years.
Adalyn was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato and taught many Sunday school and vacation Bible school classes. She was also involved in the Cokato Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and the Historical Society.
In her spare time, Adalyn loved to travel to places such as Hawaii, Mexico, and Europe, and all of the eastern and western states in the US. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards, and participating in playing games.
Adalyn is survived by her children, John (Marie) Wright of Buffalo, Dean (Kathryn) Wright of Crossville, Tenn., and Mary Jeanne (Edgar) Olander of Hackensack, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; niece Lorraine Holsing of Zumbrota; nephews James Eckstrom and Duane Puffer; and sister-in-law Marie Onstott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; and brother, Clarence Eckstrom.
Funeral service was Thursday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato with the Rev. Steve Thorson officiating. Music was provided by Karen Anderson. Interment was in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Cameron Kelly, Jim Wright, Rock Kelly, Spencer Wright, David Wright, and Susan Wright. Honorary bearers were the Cokato Legion Auxiliary.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
