Verna Idella Anderson, age 79, of Winsted, formerly of Cokato, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born April 6, 1928, in Otry Township, Ortonville, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Ida (Lindgren) Anderson. Verna was baptized and confirmed at Eidskog Lutheran Church in Ortonville.
She grew up in Ortonville, and graduated from Ortonville High School in 1946. Following graduation, Verna was employed at the Veteran’s Service and also at the county superintendent’s office.
Verna moved to Cokato in 1949, and worked in the office of Johnson Produce. She was later employed at the State Bank of Cokato, retiring from there as an assistant cashier.
An active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato, Verna was loved by all who knew her for her faith in her Lord and her many gifts of serving others.
Verna is survived by her bother, Archie Anderson of Cannon Falls; sister-in-law Ethel Anderson; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Myrtle Anderson, Arlys Anderson, and Gordon Anderson.
Funeral service was Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato with the Rev. Steve Thorson officiating. Organist was Karen Anderson. Visitation preceded the service for one hour.
Interment was at Eidskog Lutheran Cemetery in Ortonville, with the Rev. John Ragan presiding.
Pallbearers were Jim Anderson, Reg Anderson, Mark Anderson, Gary Zimmerman, Tim Paulson, and Philip Martenson.
Arrangements were by the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
