Fern B. Anderson, of Cokato, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at St. Benedict’s Nursing Home in St. Cloud.
She was born in 1912 to Oscar and Augusta Erickson of Dassel, where she grew up and attended school.
After graduating from high school, Fern took classes in Minneapolis to become a medical technician.
She married Howard Anderson in 1933, and they made their home in Cokato nearly all of their married life.
Although primarily a mother and homemaker, Fern also worked as a nurses aid at Cokato and Litchfield hospitals for several years.
A wonderful cook, Fern was especially known for her lemon pies and coffee bread.
After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, auctions, refinishing furniture and quilting.She made quilts at home for her grandchildren and also with the sewing group at Cokato Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she and Howard were members for many years.
Howard died in 2003, and since that time, Fern resided in St. Cloud at St. Benedict’s Senior Community.
A sister, Ethel Bollman, and a brother John Erickson, both of Dassel, also predeceased her.
Fern is survived by her three children, Judy (Bill) Tucker of Las Vegas, Kathryn (Larry) Nelson of Naples, Italy, and Alan (Marilyn) of St. Cloud; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service at Cokato Evangelical Lutheran Church will be scheduled at a later date.
