Kenneth was born on the family farm in Sibley County June 21, 1920, to Martin and Ida (Brodeen) Axeen.

He graduated from the Winthrop High School, and the Hemphill School of Diesel Engineering in Minneapolis.

During World War II, Ken served in the Army Air Corps, stationed in India as a Tech. Sgt., maintaining planes that supplied the Chinese allies by flying across the Himalayan “Hump.”

After being discharged, he worked in Minneapolis.

Kenneth married Bernice C. Peterson Oct. 24, 1953.

In 1972, they relocated to Brainerd, where Ken worked for the Department of Natural Resources.

Ken and Bernice moved to Dassel after they retired, where they worshipped at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cokato, and later joined the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel.

After the Cokato tornado, Ken headed a project to reclaim the shattered stained glass from the destroyed Good Shepherd Church and re-cut it for the use in the new church.

Ken and Bernice had no children.

Bernice preceded him in death in 2008. His parents and siblings also preceded him in death.
