James “Jim” Barbre, age 70, of Delano, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, while vacationing in Florida.
He was born Nov. 10, 1937, in Peoria, Ill., and had lived in Delano since 1963.
Jim was the owner and operator of Delano Dodge Chrysler Jeep for almost 40 years, retiring from that vocation in 2005.
He was a charter member of the Delano Lions Club and over the years, worked tirelessly in any club activity he believed would benefit Delano, a town he loved.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Joy Webster Barbre; daughter Janet (Ron) Berzins; son Jeff (Cathy) Barbre; grandchildren Nicole (Gary) Holman, Nathan Matter, Daniel (Katie) Barbre, and Ashley Madison; and great-grandchildren Chloe and Skyler Holman, and Lily Rose and Isaac Barbre.
Visitation was Saturday, Feb. 23 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, with a short funeral service following the visitation.
Memorials are preferred to the Diabetes Association or Lions International Diabetes Research.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
