Douglas R. Bauernschmitt, age 66, of Maple Plain, died Saturday April 26, 2008, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
He was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Waconia Twp. the son of Joseph A. and Mabel M. (Hudlow) Bauernschmitt. Douglas was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia, and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius.
Douglas loved to garden, fish, and go walking. He especially enjoyed being with people.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph and Mabel Bauernschmitt; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Willard Krause; a sister, Shirley Bauernschmitt; and a niece, Emily Krotzer.
Douglas is survived by his sisters, Lorraine Bauernschmitt, and Audrey (Richard) Krotzer, all of Maple Plain; brothers Stanford Bauernschmitt of Maple Plain, and Wilbert (Joan) Bauernschmitt of Montrose; nieces and nephews Linda and Richie Ordorff, Barbara Gabrelcik, Ellen Krause, Jackie and Charles Weishaar, Jeffrey and Sarah Krotzer, Rodney Krotzer, Vicki and Brady Kreger, Jill and John Heinbuch, Dawn and Kevin Benshoff, Wayne and Katy Bauernschmitt, and Stacy and Ron Bray; many great nieces and nephews; cousins Raymond and Eugina Schmitt of Waconia, and Irwin Wolschlager of St. Paul; and other relatives and friends
The funeral service took place Tuesday, April 29 at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia with Deacon Bob Wagner officiating. Interment was at the Lewis Cemetery in Maple Plain.
Casket bearers were Jeffrey Krotzer, Rodney Krotzer, Wayne Bauernschmitt, Richie Ordorff, Jackie Weishaar, Anton Wilson, and Jill Heinbuch;
