Frank H. Biersdorf, age 62, of Norwood Young America, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Arlington.
Frank was born Dec. 30, 1945, in Waconia, the son of Edwin and Dorothy (Unglaub) Biersdorf. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia.
He graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 1963.
Frank served in the US Army in Vietnam with the 147th AVNCO.
In 1969, Frank moved to Illinois, where he lived for 39 years, retiring from Henry Pratt Company after 35 years of employment.
Frank was a life-long member of the Tri-County Vietnow, in which he served many office positions including president for two terms. He was a life-long member of the Waconia VFW Post 5462 and American Legion Post 150.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Dorothy Biersdorf; sister Shirley Biersdorf; brothers-in-law Jan Mechtel and Roman Hesse; and special aunt and uncle, Harold and Verdella Unglaub.
He is survived by his loving family: sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Ann Mechtel of Waconia, Bette Hesse of Cologne, Dallas Isaac, Sandra and Robert Sliger of Mason City, Iowa, and Carol and Leroy Dreier of Hamburg; brother Roger Biersdorf of Plato; special goddaughter Rachel; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was Friday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with Ridgeview Hospice Chaplain Bob Haskin officiating. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation took place Thursday, Dec. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and continued one hour prior to the service Friday.
Casket bearers were Jon Sliger, Brian Sliger, Gary Sliger, James Dreier, Donald Hesse, and Mark Hesse.
