Ardis Maxine Bjork

Ardis Maxine Bjork, age 92, of Dassel, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the Dassel Lakeview Ranch.

She was born Oct. 12, 1915, in Liberty Township, Cherokee County, Iowa, the daughter of Jonas C. and Hannah (Brant) Skalberg. Ardis attended country school, and graduated from the Dassel High School.

Upon graduating from high school, she continued her education and received her teaching certificate, where upon she taught country school in the Dassel area.

Ardis was united in marriage to Clifford Bjork June 18, 1938, in Dassel. Together, they made their home in Collinwood Township, where they worked side-by-side on a family farm for many years.

After Clifford’s death in 1988, Ardis moved to a home in Dassel.

Ardis loved children. She taught young children all her life, from directing the junior choir at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel, to volunteering at the Dassel Elementary School.

As an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church Women, she was involved in serving, sewing, and bandage rolling.

Ardis enjoyed nature, reading, crossword puzzles, and baking; and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Jerry) Lundeen of Cokato; three grandchildren, Shelly (Anthony) Hasti, Jeffery Lundeen, and Ryan Lundeen (fiancée Danielle Gustafson); three great-grandchildren, Brandon Hasti, Jordan Hasti, and Ariana Hasti; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her husband, Clifford, Ardis was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings Carl Skalberg, Elsie Bodwell, and Margaret Bergquist.

The funeral service was Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with the Rev. Keith Carlson officiating. Oganist was Harvey Peterson. Interment followed at the Dassel Cemetery.

Visitation preceded the funeral service for one hour at the church.

Casketbearers were Anthony Hasti, David Ferguson, Jerome Carlson, Chad Carlson, Gary Skalberg, and Allan Skalberg.

Arrangements were by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
