John A. Borchart, age 78, of New Germany, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at his home in New Germany.
He was born July 13, 1930, in Yakima, Wash., the son of Charles L. and Achsah “Betty” B. (Johnson) Borchart.
John was united in marriage to Joan “Joanie” L. Schultz Sept. 5, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island, Minn.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Achsah “Betty” Borchart; sister Beverly McNeill; and mother-in-law Gladys Schultz.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Joan; children and spouses JoLene and Gregg Giersdorf of Mankato, Jeff and Jill Borchart of Osage, Jacque and Dave Olson of Watertown, and Judy and Greg Johnson of Ramsey; and grandchildren Aaron and Melissa Giersdorf, Ryan Giersdorf, Justin Borchart, Katie Johnson, and Matt Johnson.
John is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law June and John Rentschler of Shorewood, and Diane and Jerry Snyker of International Falls; brothers and sister-in-law Charlie Borchart of Hutchinson, and Jim and Fran Borchart of Excelsior; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Donna and Cal Christofferson of Hibbing, and Dorothy and Gene Olson of Willmar; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Friday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with visitation for one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Haskin, chaplain at Ridgeview Hospice, officiated. Interment was at Mayer United Cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
