Lorraine E. Brahee, age 84, of Cologne, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at her home.
Lorraine was born Sept. 9, 1923, in Dahlgren Township, the daughter of Edgar and Emma (Anderson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at West Union Lutheran Church in Carver.
She was united in marriage to Ross W. Brahee May 22, 1948, at West Union Lutheran Church.
A loving wife, mom, and grandma, Lorraine loved spoiling her grandchildren every chance she got. She enjoyed working with her flowers and had a deep appreciation for birds, especially cardinals.
Lorraine was very involved with the Gideons. Some of her strengths were the love and fairness she portrayed in any situation, always giving people the benefit of the doubt.
She never missed her daily devotions, which meant so much to her; and she was very involved with West Union Lutheran Church activities and ministries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Brahee; sister Inez Plocher; and brothers-in-law Harry Gillette and Herbert Anderson.
Lorraine is survived by her loving family: children and spouses, David and Sharon Brahee of Waconia, Carol Brahee of Cologne, Douglas Brahee of Marquette, Mich., Dan and Jackie Brahee, and Doran and Lisa Brahee, all of Cologne; grandchildren Laura and Kevin Rask, and Leigh Anne Brahee; sisters Irene Johnson of Waconia, and Betty Gillette of Bella Vista, Ark.; brothers and sisters-in-law Ivar and Janet Johnson of Winsted, Donald and Dorothy Johnson of St. Croix Falls, Wis., and Rosalie Anderson of Hillsboro, N.D.; brother-in-law Wilfred Plocher of Waconia; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Wednesday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at West Union Lutheran Church in Carver with the Rev. David Knox officiating. Interment was at West Union Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Steve Carnal, Glen Hultin, Todd Johnson, Tom Johnson, Larry Zellman, and Russell Anderson.
