LeRoy E. “Roy” Bruhn, age 82, of St. Bonifacius passed away Tuesday July 29, 2008 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
LeRoy was born June 2, 1926 in Minnetrista Twp. to Harry and Esther (Thurk) Bruhn. LeRoy was baptized at Minnetrista Baptist Church.
On November 29, 1958 he was united in marriage to Phyllis J. Haugen at the Minnetrista Baptist Church in St. Bonifacius by Rev. Tom Harfst.
LeRoy was a loving husband, dad and grandpa and would do anything his family asked of him.
LeRoy was very active in his church serving as youth president and janitor, spending many hours fixing stuff at the church. He was a deep man of faith being a deacon for many years and enjoying gospel music.
LeRoy had a very dry sense of humor amusing people that were around him. LeRoy was a fan of western movies. One of his favorite activities was attending potluck dinners. LeRoy always had a Ford pickup truck of which he was very proud.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Esther Bruhn; brothers Lyle Bruhn and Wesley Bruhn; sisters Bernice Bruhn, Elaine Johnson, Gladys Johnson, and Betty Danielowski; sister-in-law Gladys Bruhn; brothers-in-law Warren Gregg and Donald Danielowski.
LeRoy is survived by his loving family; wife Phyllis; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Cindy Bruhn of Woodbridge, California; daughter Pauline Bruhn of St. Bonifacius; granddaughters Danica and Michaela Bruhn, and Mariela Bruhn; sisters and brothers-in-law Evelyn Gregg of Excelsior, Arlene and Jack Dahl of Mound, Vernon Johnson of East Grand Forks, ND; brother-in-law and wife Marlin and Sharon Johnson of New Ulm; sister-in-law DeDe Bruhn of Montrose; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Gilma Bothum of Austin, Carol and Stanley Thurlow of Kansas; special neighbors Ferdie and Pat Ehalt, Eric and Emily Falkman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Sunday August 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Minnetrista Baptist Church in St. Bonifacius with Rev. Al Tuley officiating; Interment Minnetrista Baptist Cemetery.
Casket Bearers were Gary Gregg, Dale Dahl, Steven Johnson, Ronald Johnson, Donald Johnson, Daniel Formato, Eddie Bruhn, and Gary Sanden.
