Ruth E. Ebert, age 75, of Watertown, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
She was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Cologne, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Tellers) Wickenhauser. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne.
She was united in marriage to Lloyd A. “Sonny” Ebert May 5, 1953, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne.
Ruth was a member of the Waconia VFW auxiliary, which conducted a service at the wake in her honor.
She had a strong passion for gardening and canning, and loved working on the farm along with Sonny.
Ruth is preceded in death by her son, Robert; parents William and Elizabeth Wickenhauser; and her grandparents.
She is survived by her loving family: husband Lloyd “Sonny”; daughter and son-in-law Connie and Paul Schlechter of St. Bonifacius; grandchildren Jason Schlechter and Adam Ebert; brother and sister-in-law Clarence and Muriel Wickenhauser of Cologne; sisters and brother-in-law Marcella Vanderlinde of Watertown, Clarissa Wickenhauser of Mankato, and Luella and Joe Griebel of Sleepy Eye; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Bernice and William Volkenant of Maple Plain, Elaine Stelten of Chaska, and Gilbert Walter of Cologne; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday July 25 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Father Tom Balluff was the celebrant. Interment was at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Tom Vanderlinde, Leon Vanderlinde, Gerry Vanderlinde, David Wickenhauser, Steve Wickenhauser, Bill Weiland, Dan Vanderlinde, Jim Griebel, and Ernie Griebel.
