Edwin G. Foster, age 85, of Waconia, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Norwood, the son of William and Wilhelmina (Thun) Foster. Edwin was baptized Sept. 10, 1922, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. W. F. Schneider, and confirmed by the same April 5, 1936.
Edwin married Olga W. Lueck June 8, 1947, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. John Meyer officiating.
A loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, Edwin enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and fishing. He appreciated listening to old tyme music, and also played the accordion.
Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Olga; daughter Marleen Lovaasen; sister Esther Segler; brothers Arthur and William Foster; and half-brother Walter Thun.
He is survived by his loving family: daughter and sons-in-law Karen and Marvin Green of Nisswa, and David Lovaasen of Waconia; grandchildren Matthew and Alicia Green, Krista and Jason Leach, Jessica and Jon Boetel, and Alice Lovaasen; great-grandchildren Abigale, Trevor and Mason; sister-in-law Anna Buehler of Waconia; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was Saturday June 14 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. Phil Wagner officiating. Visitation preceded the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Alden Wolter, Harlan Segler, Virgil Stender, Dale Segler, Bruce Segler, and Matthew Green.
