Donald John Elmer Grundahl, age 92, of Cokato, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson.
He was born Aug. 8, 1916, in Cokato, to John Oscar and Mabel Grundahl.
Growing up on the farm in Collinwood Township, Donald lived there for 87 years, farming with his parents, and his brother, Conrad. Don’s father was killed by a bull when he was 19 years old.
Donald was baptized in September of 1916, and confirmed in 1931, at Stockholm Lutheran Church. He remained a member there his entire life, serving on the church council and the Stockholm creamery board.
He enjoyed fishing, as he farmed in the summer and fished in the winter. He also enjoyed going to antique farm auctions, driving the country roads to look at the crops, and was an avid Twins fan.
Donald had a great memory of people and the facts of their lives. He loved to visit with people.
He resided at Edgewood Gables in Cokato, before residing at the Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Conrad.
He is survived by several cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services took place Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Stockholm Lutheran Church, with interment at the Stockholm Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
