Roland E. Hansen, age 82, of Minnetonka, entered into the presence of the Lord surrounded by his loving family Friday June 6, 2008, at the Elim Home in Watertown.
He was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Humboldt, Iowa, the son of Roland E. and Ruth V. (Carlson) Hansen.
Roland grew up in Waukegon, Ill.
He was united in marriage to Margaret J. Smith Jan. 17, 1948.
Roland worked at the corporate headquarters for Target for a number of years. He had a tremendous love for the church, and enjoyed participating in bowling and golfing leagues in his younger years. One of his greatest pleasures was roller skating.
Some other activities Roland enjoyed were working on his model railroad, his exercise classes, and visiting with the front desk at his apartment complex. He was part of the resident council at RidgePointe apartments in Minnetonka.
Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; parents Roland and Ruth Hansen; stepmother Ethel Hansen; and beloved aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his loving family: children and spouses Gary and Ella Hansen of Lombard, Ill., Karen and Merle Painter of Winsted, Linda and Dwight Johnson of Watertown, and David Hansen of Sacramento, Calif.; grandchildren Kristin Hansen, Lisa Hansen, Sarah Painter, Chris Painter, Tim Painter, Danny Painter, Jordan and Karen Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Rebecca Johnson, Matthew Johnson, and Diana Johnson; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Sunday, June 8 at 4 p.m. at the Watertown Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Paul Kling officiating. Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Roland’s grandsons were his casket bearers: Jordan Johnson, Chris Painter, Stephen Johnson, Tim Painter, Danny Painter, and Matthew Johnson.
