Lorena Alice Herrmann

Lorena Alice Herrmann, age 92, of Minnetonka, formerly of Watertown, died Thursday Sept. 11, 2008, at the Elim Home of Watertown.

She was born April 3, 1916, in Watertown Township, the daughter of Otto and Anna (Ketcher) Brandenburg. Lorena was baptized May 14, 1916, by the Rev. George Seebald and confirmed May 11, 1930, by the Rev. Karl Rudolph, both at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown Twp.

Lorena was united in marriage to Roy T. Herrmann Nov. 21, 1934, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown Twp. by the Rev. Karl Rudolph.

A loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandmother, Lorena sang in the choir at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. She was the last original member of St. Paul’s and served on the ladies aid at both churches. Lorena was one of the last founding members at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

She was employed as a nurse’s aid at Methodist Hospital and Castle Ridge.

Lorena loved gardening, flowers, baking, entertaining, square dancing, sewing, and was always a hard worker. She received a blue ribbon at the Wright County Fair for homemade bread.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; father and mother Otto and Anna Brandenburg; sister and brother-in-law Cora and Elmer Gesell; and brothers and sisters-in-law Erwin and Emma Brandenburg, Lloyd and Edna Brandenburg, and Paul and Rose Brandenburg.

Lorena is survived by her loving family; daughter and son-in-law Sandra May and Wallace Peterson of South Haven; grandchildren David and Elizabeth Peterson, Timothy Peterson and special friend Lisa, Merilee and Randy Ruby, Jan Nieuwsma, Nan and Gregory Widseth, and Cheryl and Chris Soderberg; and great-grandchildren Nicolle and Eric Peterson, Heidi and Halle Peterson, Lori and special friend Dan, Lacey and John Ruby, Dakoda, Arayna and Tanner Nieuwsma, Brittany, Luke, Jake and Samuel Widseth, and Hannah and Molly Soderberg.

She is further survived by aunts Malinda Ketcher, and Leona Ketcher, both of Spring Park; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral Service was Monday Sept. 15 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Interment was at the Watertown Community Cemetery.

Lorena’s grandchildren were her casket bearers.
