Dennis Albert Hesse, age 44, of Howard Lake, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at the Glencoe Hospital.
He was born Dec. 3, 1963, in Glencoe to Robert and Joyce (Moore) Hesse. Dennis grew up in Lester Prairie and Montrose.
He entered the US Army at the age of 17 and served his country in Germany and Panama for six years.
Following his years in the service, Dennis lived in Tennessee for a few years, driving truck and working as an exterminator. He returned to Minnesota and lived in many places around Wright County.
Dennis enjoyed riding motorcycle, hunting, and doing mechanic work on big trucks.
Although Dennis didn’t have children of his own, he treated his stepchildren, nieces, and nephews as his own.
He is survived by his wife, Brendakay “BK” of Howard Lake, and her children, Kurt, Joshua, Angelica and Gabrielle; father, Robert (Dorothy) Hesse of Hayfield, Minn.; mother, Joyce of Las Vegas, Nev.; and brothers and sisters, Debby Albrecht of Litchfield and her daughters, Kimberly, Angela, and Stephanie; Dale (Sandy )Foede of Monticello and their children, Matthew and Nicole; Dawn (Roger) Stumpf of Waverly and daughter, Jessica Hesse Bergin; Duane of Montrose and his children, Khala and Brittany; Daniel “D.J.” (Amanda) Hesse of Dassel and their children, Morgan, Megan, Katie, Cody, and Courtney; Denise (Rick) Risen of Sparta, Wis. and their children, Mackenzie and Ian; and Tina Hesse of Tacoma, Wash. and her children, Ajay, Doug, Vikki, Samantha, and Dominick.
Dennis is further survived by stepbrothers and sisters, Arlan (Heidi) Spratte of Zumbrota and their children, Sam, Sully and Sebrina; Tervi Spratte of Kansas City, Mo., and Edward Spratte and Royce Spratte of Rochester, Minn.; stepmother Sherry (Glen) Foede of Montrose; and best friends, Robin (Mark) Harkess of Watertown.
Dennis was preceded in death by his stepson, Matthew.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Howard Lake Christian Church with interment at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Visitation took place Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and continued Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arangements were with the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake.
