Dallas L. Hilk, age 81, of Waconia, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at the Elim Home in Watertown.
Dallas was born May 9, 1927, in Waconia Twp., the daughter of Walter and Lillie (Neumann) Vollrath.
She was baptized June 5, 1927, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. William Schneider; and confirmed by the same April 6, 1944.
Dallas was united in marriage to Lester E. Hilk Jan. 9, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. William Schneider officiating.
The couple farmed together until 1973, when they moved to Waconia.
Dallas was employed at Tonka Toys, Technical Ordinance, Tino’s, and at the same time, was a caregiver at home. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and visiting her daughter in Canada.
She was involved in Seniors for Christ at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia.
Dallas was always happy, had a smile on her face, and never complained.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; parents Walter and Lillie Vollrath; sister and brother-in-law, Myra and Don Peterson; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Frieda Hilk
Dallas is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert van Ingen of Belfountain Ontario, Canada; grandson Trevor van Ingen of Belfountain Ontario, Canada; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Milton and Lenore Hilk of St. Louis Park, and Rueben and Lois Hilk of Waconia; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was Friday Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. James Wilk officiated. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.
Casket bearers were Steve Peterson, Kate Peterson, Jeff Peterson, Lu Ann Sampson, Lyle Hilk, and Mary Bentrup.
