Gary L. Isaacson, age 73, of Hillsboro, Ore., formerly of Dassel, died Sunday, June 15, 2008.
He was born March 13, 1935, in Dassel. In 1947, his family moved to Hot Springs, S.D.
They then moved to Portland, Ore. in 1949, where Gary graduated from Washington High School in 1953, and the University of Portland in 1957. At the university, he majored in accounting and also played tuba in the university and ROTC bands.
He served in the Oregon Air National Guard for six years.
Gary married Elois Jean Nelson Nov. 21, 1959.
He was employed as an accountant for the Carnation Company in Portand from 1958 to 1961. He then went to work for the Internal Revenue Service as an agent, retiring from there in 1994.
Gary enjoyed playing the tuba, and was a founding member of the Beaverton Community Band.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Beaverton, Ore., where he played in the brass ensemble.
Gary is survived by his wife, Elois; sons Kris and Arne; a brother, William Isaacson; seven grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Gary’s dad, Walter Isaacson, was a first cousin to Linton and Delbert Isaacson, both of Dassel.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 21, at St. Matthew Church in Beaverton, with interment at Fir Lawn Memorial Park, Hillsboro.
