LeRoy A. Jungclaus, age 79, of Lester Prairie, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
He was born April 14, 1928, in Glencoe, the son of Alvin and Louise Bathen Jungclaus. LeRoy was baptized May 6, 1928 by Pastor E. Kolbe at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. He was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith May 3, 1944, by Pastor A.R. Streufert at the same church.
LeRoy and Evelyn E. Jenneke were joined in holy marriage June 23, 1951, at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. They lived in the Glencoe area until 1957, and then moved to Lester Prairie., where they farmed in Bergen Township from 1957 to 1990.
LeRoy enjoyed fishing.
He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, and served on the board of stewardship and as an elder.
LeRoy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Evelyn of Lester Prairie; a son, Gary (Susan) Jungclaus of St. Michael; granddaughter Tanya Jungclaus; great-grandsons John Every, III and Taylor Walters; a sister, Marilyn (Philip) Plaisance of Hutchinson; brother-in-law Larry Jenneke of Wisconsin; a niece and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Louise Jungclaus; a granddaughter, Shannon Jungclaus; and by his father-in-law and mother- in-law Otto and Charlotte “Lottie” Jenneke.
The funeral service took place Saturday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with Pastor Eric Nelson officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lester Prairie.
Friends called two hours prior to the funeral service at the church.
Casket bearers were Jeff Jenneke, Jason Jenneke, Francis Burch, Fred Holasek, Glen Beneke, and Maurice Tonn. Honorary casket bearers were John Every, III and Taylor Walters.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
