Rev. Rodney E. Ketcher

Rev. Rodney E. Ketcher, age 61, of Burnsville, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ Friday, May 9, 2008, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.

Rodney was born June 18, 1946, in Minneapolis, the son of El Roy L. and Hilda H. (Barfknecht) Ketcher. He was baptized at St. Peter’s Lutheran church July 7, 1946, by Pastor Pape, and confirmed at the same church April 10, 1960, by Pastor Wetzel.

Rodney attended Watertown High School. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in business administration.

He proudly served in the Navy, and was stationed in Japan.

Rodney served as a volunteer youth minister through the LCMS in Taiwan, where he met his wife, Elizabeth. They were married at St Peter’s Lutheran Church May 2, 1981, by Pastor Hagen.

Rodney attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. He served as a missionary in Taiwan with his family for eight years.

They then returned to Minnesota in 1994, where Rodney served as pastor of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis until he was called to the Lord.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, El Roy Ketcher; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his loving family: wife Elizabeth; children Rebecca Ketcher and fiancé Frederick Lewis of Arizona, Matthew Ketcher, and Michelle Ketcher ,both of Burnsville; mother Hilda Ketcher of Watertown; sister and brother-in-law Renee and Duane Otto of Watertown; brothers and sisters-in-law Keith and Diane Ketcher of Minnetonka, and Ronald and Susan Ketcher of Norwood Young America; father-in-law and mother-in-law De-Ming and Jing-Ru Pan of Taiwan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Why-Bing and Wei-Hoa He, of Taiwan, Tzong-Hei and Jing-Yu Jian of Taiwan, Tzong-Shii and Florance Pan, and Tony and Mei-Lyan Pan, all of California; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was Wednesday May 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Bill Kirmsse officiating. Interment was at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation took place Tuesday, May 13 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, with a chapel service at 7 p.m. with Rev. Dean Gade officiating. Visitation continued Wednesday one hour prior to the service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Casket bearers were Matthew Ketcher, Frederick Lewis, Joshua Ketcher, Adam Ketcher, Rhett Dressel, and Ross Dressel.
