James P. Klaers, age 89, of Maple Plain, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
He was born May 12, 1919, in Independence, to Joseph and Alice (Maloney) Klaers.
James was a life-long farmer in the Maple Plain area.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Moore; son, Kenny Klaers; sister, Delores James; brother, Richard J. Klaers; and sister-in-law Bernadine Klaers.
James is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geraldine (Hutter); daughter Marge (Gene) Barfknecht; daughter-in-law Susan Klaers; son-in-law Charles Moore; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers Ray Klaers, and Don and Maggie Klaers; and sister-in-law Eileen Klaers.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto with the Rev. John Gallas officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Mike Barfknecht, Steve Barfknecht, Terry Klaers, Andy Strub, Loren Barfknecht, Larry Barfknecht, Lyle Barfknecht, and Randy Klaers.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
