Milla Klammer, age 99, of Howard Lake, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Howard Lake.
She was born Aug. 3, 1909, in Woodland Township to Frank and Ida (Prigge) Stoppelman.
A lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, she was baptized Aug. 28, 1909 by the Rev. Ernest Roberts, and confirmed in her faith May 27, 1923, by the Rev. A. L. Oetjen.
Milla was united in marriage to Erwin Klammer Nov. 10, 1929, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake by the Rev. C. G. Seltz. They were blessed with four children, and made their home and living on a farm west of Howard Lake.
Milla was active in her church, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, quilting with the guilds, arranging Easter displays, serving on various committees, painting, wallpapering, and a longtime faithful member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
She ran a catering business for many years, and was also a seamstress for many.
Milla enjoyed gardening and baking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ida Stoppelman; brother Ruskin; sister Esther Stoppelman; husband Erwin; son Wayne; and grandson David Yager.
Milla is survived by children, Marcella (Harlan) Yager, Ken (Shirley) Klammer, all of Howard Lake, and Arlene (Dale) Lemmerman of Wayzata; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service was Monday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Butterfass and the St. James LWML. Interment was in the Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Milla’s grandchildren were her pallbearers: Steve Klammer, Tim Lemmerman, Paul Lemmerman, Gail Gerber, Jane Bayerl, Julie Grad, Joni Hedtke, and Lori Maneche.
Arrangements were by the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake.
