Vernon James Kleve Sr., age 72, of McGregor, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at his home.
He was born Feb. 21, 1936, in Minneapolis, to William and Emma Kleve.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Richard, Kenneth (Betty), and William, Jr.; his granddaughter, Madeysen Kleve; and companion, Margene (Midge) Compton.
He is survived by his children: Vernon Jr. (Charity), Kyle (Rhonda), Daniel (Julie), and Robert; many loving grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings Sheldon (Barbara), Floyd (Jan), and Patti (Gene); sisters-in-law Carole and Alice; and many nieces and nephews.
Vern owned and operated the Trader’s Post on Big Sandy Lake in McGregor for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed touring the country on his Harley or in his motor home. He also enjoyed his many puppies.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, followed by interment at Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
