Barbara Ann Kliewer

Barbara Ann Kliewer, 54 years young, went home to be with her Jesus, whom she loved and served with her whole heart, Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, after suffering a stroke Friday, March 28.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park.

Visitation is Tuesday, April 8 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, and will continue Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Barbara was born Jan. 11, 1954, in Bertha, Minn. to Richard and Margaret (Kaluza) Oelrich.

She attended and graduated from Cokato High School in 1972, and went on to graduate from Moehler Barber School, where she obtained the master barber degree.

Barbara owned and operated Barbereze Hair Salon in Cokato for 25 years, retiring from the business in 2005. She also owned and operated the Grounds Coffee Business in Cokato, and currently owned and operated two Snap Fitness franchises.

Barbara’s overwhelming joy was being a member of Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park, Minn. Barbara knew the love and compassion of Jesus in her life. When she was called by Him onto the streets of Minneapolis to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she obeyed and fulfilled that calling until the very end.

Barbara is survived by her adoring husband, Paul Kliewer; son Adam (Kathy) Kliewer; grandson Corbin Riley Kliewer; mother Margaret Oelrich; brothers Richard (Arlene) Oelrich, James (Jeannie) Oelrich, and Duane Oelrich; sisters Roseanne Rengel (Greg, deceased), Maggie (Steve) Warno, Susan (Bruce) Estes, and Julie (Mike) Homberger; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews; her church family; and many, many special friends, including two of her best, her dogs, Snickers and McGuffy.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Oelrich; and sister, Carmen Hill.

Arrangements are by the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
