Algot Roland “Junior” Knutson, age 75, of Dassel, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
He was born Feb. 22, 1933, to Algot and Katie (Brown) Knutson in Forest City Township, Meeker County. Algot attended School District 10, School District 16, and Litchfield High School.
He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, spending 18 months in Germany. When he returned, he farmed in the Kingston area.
Algot was united in marriage to Annette Euerle April 15, 1961, at St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Forest City.
In 1967, Algot moved to Dassel and worked for Custom Products for over 30 years.
Junior played with several different bands and was an accomplished guitar player. He enjoyed fishing, painting, listening to country music, and spending time at the cabin. A gentle, quiet man, he was a friend to everyone.
Algot is survived by his wife, Annette, of Dassel; children Wanda (and Jim) Johnson of St. Paul, Lori Carlson of Sherwood, AR, Karen (and Keith) Severns of Mankato, and Diane Rideout of New Hope; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilfred (and Mary) Knutson of Watkins; and a sister, Lilas (and Ralph) Gilmer of Litchfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Algot and Katie.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with Pastor Bridget Haefner officiating. Interment was in Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, with military honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, and continued Wednesday for one hour prior to the services.
