Lyle Richard Larsen, age 79, of Dassel, died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at the Lakeside Health Care Center of Dassel.
A funeral service will take place Monday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with the Rev. Keith Carlson officiating. There will be a time to gather with family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial arrangements are being handled by the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
Lyle was born May 13, 1929, in Grove City, the son of Lewis and Susan (Voight) Larsen. He grew up in the Grove City area, where he attended school.
Lyle was united in marriage to Rosalie Boreen Oct. 23, 1949, at the First Baptist Church in Grove City. Together they made their home in Grove City until 1970, when they moved to Dassel.
Lyle was employed with Johnson Brothers Construction Company in Litchfield for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed moving heavy equipment to construction jobs all over the United States.
Lyle enjoyed keeping busy. A few years ago, he took on the job of rebuilding the two retaining walls at the family home on Lake Washington.
He loved to visit with family and friends. During the summer months, Lyle and Rosalie would travel to Alaska to visit their son, Brad. During the winter, they would spend the time in Florida.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Rosalie Larsen of Dassel; children, Suzanne (Clayton) Blackwell of Dassel, and Brad Larsen of Anchorage, Alaska; grandson Torrey (Melissa) Blackwell of Manchester, N.H.; a brother, Roger “Bud” (Ann) Larsen of Florida; and a sister, Elaine (Chester) Johnson of Atwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Arlo, Gale, Harold, Alvin, Wade, and Charles; and one sister, Ethel Pedersen.
