Arthur Libor, age 80, of Pharr, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at his home.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, March 12 at noon at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Delano. A time to gather will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Arthur was born Oct. 13, 1927, on the family farm near Delano in Franklin Township, the son of Peter Paul Libor and Mary (Kittock) Libor.
He served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II in the Mediterranean.
Arthur moved to Alaska, where he worked on the pipeline for many years, eventually moving back to Minnesota, living in Sacred Heart and Buffalo. He began wintering in Texas and eventually moved there full-time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Paul Libor and Mary (Kittock) Libor; and siblings Clementine Pillatzki, Edward Libor, Lawrence Libor, George Libor, Gerard Libor, Anna Hanson, and Peter Paul Libor Jr.
Arthur is survived by special friend Karen Zitzloff of Pharr, Texas; sons Conley Libor Ackerman of Washington and Kurtis Libor of California; siblings Marion (Robert) Murray, Genevieve Annett (friend Alfred), Elizabeth Gueningsman, Stephen (Joan) Libor, Rosella Hudson (friend Jim), Delores (Marv) Sikkila, Annette (Larry) Thielen, and Mary (Michael) Dongoski; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
