Raymond John Lyrek, age 73, of Chetek, Wis., formerly of Delano, Watertown, and New Germany, died suddenly Friday, Feb. 8, 2008.
He was born June 13, 1934, in Delano, to Peter and Elizabeth (Fake) Lyrek.
Raymond married Joan Coghill May 18, 1957, in Watertown.
The family moved to Chetek, Wis. in 1984, from New Germany.
Raymond farmed in the Watertown and New Germany, Minn., and Chetek, Wis. area. He also did custom combining, silo filling, and was a cement contractor.
Raymond enjoyed conversation with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Chetek, Wis.; four sons, James, Kenny, William (Lorena), and Greg (Deb), all of Wisconsin; three daughters, Julie (Greg) Cline of Minneapolis, Susan (Blake) Hackett of Roseville, and Rita Lyrek of Chetek, Wis.; four brothers, Anthony (Charlene), Duane, (Verla), both of Watertown, Thomas (Frances) of Delano, and Vernon of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Elizabeth Lyrek; three brothers; and one grandson.
The funeral was Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek, Wis. with Deacon Jim Dennis officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale, Mark, and Rick Lyrek; Greg Cline, David Johnson, and Joe Jr. and Terry Fahey.
Arrangements were by the Burnham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek, Wis.
