Michael J. Menth, age 56, of Watertown, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born Dec. 18, 1951, in Watertown, the son of Curtis and Ella (Richter) Menth. Michael was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.
He was united in marriage to Kathleen A. “Kay” Bies Sept. 15, 1979, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helena and George Richter, and Lloyd and Erna Menth; and uncles and aunt, Don and Stella Ostlie, and Oscar Richter.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Menth; children Kris Menth and special friend Betsy Berglund of Watertown, Nick Menth of Lester Prairie, and Miranda Menth of Watertown; mother and father Ella and Curtis Menth of Watertown; brother Kent Gerdeman of Rogers; and sisters Rhonda (Steve) Schelitzche of Pine River, and Shelly (Dale) Ketcher of Watertown.
Michael is further survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pat and Dick Bies of Breezy Point; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary Pat O’Day of Maplewood, Beth and John Hounder of Vadnais Heights, Karen and Doug Lee of Lake Elmo, Anne and Ray Smith of White Bear Lake, Dick Bies of Circle Pines, David and Luda Bies of Stacey, and Jerry Bies of Cottage Grove; nephews James Ketcher, Jason and Annie Ketcher, Jeremy Ketcher; and other nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.
A memorial service took place Friday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at the Watertown Gun and Hunt Club, with a gathering of family and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. The Revs. Karen Lee and T. R. Royston officiated.
