Hans L. “Moynie” Meyer

Hans L. “Moynie” Meyer, age 73, of Waconia, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at his home.

He was born April 15, 1934, in Norwood, the son of Hans R. and Rosemary I. (Porter) Meyer.

Hans graduated from Mound High School, class of 1952, and served in the military from 1956 to 1958.

He was united in marriage to Mary C. Weiland Jan. 17, 1959, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.

Hans was a lifelong member of the Minnetrista Baptist Church.

He owned and operated the Meyer Service Station in Waconia for 35 years, and also worked part time for District 110 for seven years.

Hans loved motorcycles, and spending as much time as possible with his family and friends. One of his favorite things to do was scroll woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans R. and Rosemary Meyer; brother Ernest Meyer, and an infant brother; father-in-law and mother-in-law Andrew and Vernice Weiland; and brothers-in-law Roger Weiland and Keith Donahue.

Hans is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; children and their spouses, Richard and SoAe Meyer of Farmington, Diane and Stuart Stice of Summerville, N.C., and Donna and Steven Airhart of Foreston; grandchildren Brandon and Courtney Meyer, Morgan and Matthew Stice, and Shannon, Rachel and Tara Airhart; brothers and sisters-in-law Doug and Carol Meyer of Summerton, S.C., and Duane and Mary Ann Meyer of Chaska; and sister and brother-in-law Mary Gail and Jerry Keller of Plattsmouth, Neb.

He is further survived by sister-in-law Jane Mueller of Colorado; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Betty Donahue of Mayer, Kenneth and Judy Weiland, Marilyn Weiland, all of Waconia, Andrew and Susan Weiland of Cape Cod, Mass., Linda and Roger Sauerbrey of Norwood Young America, Gerald and Chris Weiland of Waconia, Debbie and Dale Muhs of Watertown, Susan and Larry Goede of Waconia, and Chuck and Joanne Weiland of Mayer; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was Friday April 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Larry Blake as celebrant of the Mass. Prayer service was led by Rev. Al Tuley. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Ben Muhs, Tim Meyer, Tom Meyer, Adam Weiland, Mike Donahue, Ernie Meyer, Cody Weiland, and Paul Keller. Honorary casket bearers were his grandchildren: Brandon and Courtney Meyer, Morgan and Matthew Stice, and Shannon, Rachel and Tara Airhart.
