Mary Motzko, age 97, of Watertown passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born Dec. 18, 1910, to John and Mary (Ceryes) Babatz in Watertown. Mary was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Father Rehill.
She attended Oak Lake School.
Mary was united in marriage to Charley Motzko Nov. 3, 1931. They made their home on the Motzko farmstead.
A loving wife and mother, Mary spent her married life on the farm assisting with the farm work along with her household duties. She loved cooking and gardening.
Mary was active in her church, helping where needed. She was loved by the neighbor’s children, whom she would babysit.
In recent years, she had been homebound, but enjoyed talking to her friends and relatives on the phone.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Charley; parents John and Mary Babatz; sisters Margaret (Babatz) Salonek, and Agnes (Babatz) (Pollack) Pfeiffer; brothers John and William Babatz; and brothers-in-law Ervin Cardinal, Thomas Salonek, and Del Pfeiffer.
She is survived by her daughter, Rose Ann; sisters Florence (Babatz) Cardinal, and Ellen (Babatz) Scheuble; sisters-in-law Mary (Pollock) Babatz, and Norma (Rabens) Babatz; and brother-in-law Marvin Scheuble; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Aug. 19 at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Delano. The Rev. Tom Balluff officiated, with interment in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were James Babatz, Richard Scheuble, Jerry Cardinal, Robert Pollock, David Babatz, Phil Morgan, Mark Motzko, and John Vanderlinde.
Arrangements were handled by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
