Elma Catherine Nolan, age 96, of Cokato, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home.
Elma was born Aug. 17, 1911, at home in French Lake Township to Gust and Sara (Laralehto) Esko. She was baptized at home and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of French Lake.
Elma grew up on the farm and graduated from Myrback Country School.
She was married to Arthur Nolan April 10, 1948, in Northwood, Iowa. They lived in Minneapolis until 1950, when they moved back to French Lake Township.
Elma enjoyed reading, being outdoors, and working around the house. She was a long-standing member at Albion Free Lutheran Church, rural Cokato.
Elma is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; two brothers; and three sisters.
The funeral service was Friday, March 14 at 2 p.m. at Albion Free Lutheran Church with the Rev. Philip Geoffrion officiating. Music was provided by Phil Benson and Norma Geoffrion. Interment was at the Albion Church Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, March 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, and continued Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casket bearers were Allen Golombiecki, Jay Horsema, Jason Rokala, Josh Rokala, Russell Rokala, Terry Rokala, and Lloyd Salmela.
Arrangements were by the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
