Martha Barbara Pribyl, age 87, of Maple Plain, formerly of Maple Lake, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at the Haven Homes in Maple Plain.
She was born Nov. 16, 1920, to Alysuis and Pauline (Irmen) Barthel in Roseville, Minn.
Martha was united in marriage to LeRoy Robert Pribyl June 9, 1956.
Martha and LeRoy were past members of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake, and Martha was currently a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto.
Prior to marriage, Martha was employed at the Munsingwear Company in Minneapolis. Upon marriage, she joined LeRoy on the family farm.
After retiring from farming, they left the farm, but not the love of it. The land and being in the outdoors continued to be a passion. During these retirement years Martha and LeRoy became world travelers seeing and enjoying many different places, including a 30-day African safari.
Spending time with family at home was always a highlight. Martha enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including crocheting, gardening and canning, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Maple Lake Extension Homemakers Group.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; an infant daughter; and siblings Stella Adam, Arnold Barthel, Herbert Barthel, Bernice Barthel, Clara Kotilinek, Albert Barthel, and Irma Barthel.
She is survived by her children, Jane Pribyl, and Theresa and Ron Helmbrecht; grandchildren Scott Helmbrecht, and Laura Helmbrecht; siblings Eleanor Barthel, Margaret Mary Arco, and Rita Barthel; a sister-in-law, Genevieve Barthel; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Feb. 8 at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto with the Rev. Brian Fier officiating. Interment was in the St. Timothy Cemetery in Maple Lake.
Casket bearers were Paul Adam, Steve Barthel, Don Pribyl, Ralph Pribyl, Tom Kotilinek, and Chase Kotilinek.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
