Leslie “Les” Joseph Raymond Obituary – 01/03/08


Leslie “Les” Joseph Raymond, age 85, of Watertown, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place today, Monday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mound, with gathering of family and friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church, prior to the Mass.

Les was born Jan. 15, 1922, to Elijah and Margaret (Schnettler) Raymond in St. Cloud.

He served in the Navy on a PT boat during World War II, and graduated from St. Cloud Tech in 1940.

Les was a lifelong farmer in the Watertown area and worked for the City of Edina for 20 years.

He enjoyed woodworking, but his farm was his passion.

Les was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Genevieve “Jay;” and his brother, Gene Raymond.

He is survived by his children: Tom and Jillynne Raymond, James and Mary Raymond, Susanne and Joe Gallus, Richard and Cindy Raymond, Luann Raymond and John Karjalahti, and Joseph and Pam Raymond; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters and brother-in-law, Lorraine Nolden and Lucille and Lud Lochen.

Arrangements are by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
