Ralph Edmund Regal

Ralph Edmund Regal, age 82, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Dassel, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the TideWell Hospice & Palliative Care House in Bradenton.

He was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Dassel to the late William and Clara (Nordstorm) Regal.

Ralph served with the US Navy during WWII and attended the University of Minnesota.

He had been a resident of Bradenton for over 50 years, where he was the founder and president of the Manatee Oil Distributors from 1956 until 1999, when the company was turned over to his children.

Ralph was a member and past-president of the Bradenton Rotary Club, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. As a member of the Hernando De Soto Historical Society for over 40 years, he served as a conquistador, and in 1979-1980, served as Hernando.

He was director of the Southeast Bank in Manatee County, member and past-president of the Pittsburgh Pirates Booster Club, member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, and served as a deacon and elder of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bradenton.

Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Nancy Walsh Regal; son and his wife, Ryan Walsh and Kirsten Regal; daughter Robin Ann Regal; son-in-law Gary Thomsen, all of Bradenton, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jesse, Meredith, and Coulter Regal, and Hunter and Drew Thomsen; and a great-granddaughter, Eilis Marie McNeal Regal.

A memorial service took place Tuesday, March 25 at 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bradenton. Private family committal was at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto.
