Roy Alan Ross, age 53, of Park Rapids, formerly of Lester Prairie, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at his residence.
He was born March 25, 1955, in Litchfield, the son of Harold and Gladys Olson Ross. Roy was baptized July 19, 1956, at First Lutheran Church in Grove City by the Rev. Drell Bernhardson. He was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism, and confirmed in the Christian faith May 24, 1970.
Roy graduated from Hutchinson High School in June of 1973.
He was employed for many years as a carpenter, and formerly owned and operated Ross Construction.
Roy enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, watching wildlife, and spending time with his friends.
He is survived by his children: Jeremy Ross and fiancée Patti Habisch, Timothy (Jennifer) Ross, and Angela (Duane) Litzau, all of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Jacob and Gracie Ross and Anna and Shelby Litzau; his mother, Gladys Ross of Litchfield; brothers Wade “Roscoe” Ross of Cosmos, Dale (Tammy) Ross of Hutchinson, and David (Lois) Ross of Mound; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, Harold Ross.
A memorial service took place Sunday, April 6 at 1 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder.” Ralph Mohwinkel sang “On Eagles’ Wings.” Interment was at Forest City Cemetery.
There was a time of gathering one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
