Elnora M. Salmela, age 90, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Cokato, died Monday, May 12, 2008, at Mecklenburg Health Care Nursing Home in North Carolina.
A memorial service and burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis Monday, June 9 at 10:30 a.m. at assembly area 6, 2nd gate on the left. Cremation took place in South Carolina at the Wolfe Funeral Home.
Elnora was born in Howard Lake, the daughter of Ernest and Hattie Hintz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.
Elnora married Rudolph Salmela in December 1936.
Rudolph preceded her in death, as did a son, Larry Salmela; her parents, Ernest and Hattie Hintz; sister Fern Berglin; and sister-in-law Alta Hintz.
Elnora is survived by her daughter, Marlene (James) Wondra; grandson Trevor (Athena) Wondra of South Carolina; daughter-in-law Liz Salmela of Florida; granddaughters Lisa (Jose) Perez and Debra (Greg) Martin; great-granddaughters Peyton and Addalie Perez, and Catlin Martin; great-grandson Logan Martin; brother Weldon Hintz; sister Lois Johnson; and other relatives and friends.
